H-BC Families:

Homecoming Week begins Monday, September 19!  Looking forward to making many memories! 

HOMECOMING PARADE:   NEW THIS YEAR - Our Homecoming parade will be at 11:00 am in Hills.  See the NEW route attached.    Following the parade, elementary students have a picnic in Hills followed by attendance at the varsity volleyball game at the H-BC Secondary School in Hills at 12:30.  

The Homecoming week special events permission form will be sent home.  Here is the LINK  to view. Parents, please return the bottom parade volleyball permission portion.   

HOMECOMING DRESS UP DAYS::  We look forward to seeing all the creativity at the dress up days.  Parents, please be sure costume dress is modest and weapons (toy or real) are NOT sent to school. See the link above for the dress up day schedule.

EYE BLACK SALES-- The PTO is selling eye-blacks for Homecoming.  Here is the LINK for the form that was also sent home. If you wish to purchase, return the form and money promptly.

PUMPKIN PATCH FIELD TRIP:  Grades K-2 students will be going to the Riverview Pumpkin Patch in Canton, SD on Thursday, October 13.  The cost is $5 per student.  Watch for permission forms to be sent home at the end of September.

BIG SIOUX YOUTH BASKETBALL LEAGUE:   H-BC Community Ed will once again assist in coordinating teams for the Big Sioux Youth Basketball League.  If your child, in grades 3-6, is interested in playing, please return the form sent home earlier this week.  Forms are due.

VOLLEYBALL CAMP: Girls grades K-5 should return their registration form and money before September 23.  The camp, held at the Jr/Sr High School, will run Saturday, October 15, 22 & 29.  

PTO VIKING TICKET RAFFLE: To kick off fall, the PTO is doing a raffle for one VERY BIG PRIZE. The winner will receive 4 tickets (lower level, row 13) to the VIkings vs. Bears football game on Sunday, Oct. 9 at US Bank Stadium. The prize package includes a $250 Marriott Hotels voucher. The PTO will be selling raffle tickets at the football game this evening ($10 each or 6 for $50). Tickets will also be sent home with students on Monday. Each student will receive 6 tickets. They can purchase them or sell them to family members. Tickets that are sold and the cash or checks need to be returned to the elementary school office by Thursday, Sept. 22. The drawing will be held during halftime of the homecoming football game on Friday. Sept. 23. Last minute tickets can be purchased at the volleyball game and first half of the football game that night.

SECOND ENTREE PURCHASE: New This Year:  Students in grades K-5 may purchase a second entree with their meal for $1.50.  Students with a free or reduced meal benefits must pay the $1.50 out of pocket.   

MEAL BENEFITS: This form can be completed anytime your income changes and you believe your new status may qualify you for this assistance—-If you haven’t done so already, please fill out the free and reduced lunch applications otherwise known as “Application for Educational Benefits”.  If you qualify this benefit will assist your family financially, this application is needed.   Registration link found here: https://tinyurl.com/y5yz9soj

JMC REGISTRATION:  Thanks to all the parents and families that completed their student online registration through JMC.  It is an easy way for the school to collect the necessary information for school enrollment.  If you have not yet completed registration for your student please do so as soon as possible.  Log into www.hbc.onlinejmc.com.  If you receive a message from the school stating all or a portion of your students registration is incomplete, please act promptly!  Call the office with questions 507-673-2541

AFTER SCHOOL CARE:  PEAC - Patriot Enrichment After School Care is available for “regulars” and “drop-ins”.   Call the office or email Mrs. Voss for more information: t.voss@isd671.net

AM BUS CHANGES--For morning bus changes please call the HBC  bus line--make sure to identify your student and the bus number they are riding:  507-962-3240

AM DROP OFF:  If it’s raining or you don't see our school staff on the playground in the morning, please drop your student off at Door #1 on the North Side of the School.  

PICTURE MAKEUP DAY:  Photography by Mark will be back Tuesday, September 27, for those who did not take their picture at our Open House.  MWF Little Patriot Academy makeup day will be November 2.  Photography By Mark will provide a limited number of “hardship” packages for anyone in need.  Please call the Elementary School Office to inquire.
