H-BC ELEMENTARY PARENT CONNECTION

H-BC Families:

We continue to progress through the Month of February!  This next week we have the Paper Clips (Trombone Quartet) coming to perform for our students.  Their performance is set for Wednesday, February 23rd during the afternoon.  I’m excited to hear this group perform. Make sure to ask your son or daughter how it went!  Remember no school tomorrow, Friday, February 18 or Monday, February 21.  School is back in session on Tuesday, February 22.  Hope you all have a safe great extended time with your children!

Parent/Teacher Conferences:  TONIGHT Third quarter conferences will be held February 17th from 3:45-7:30 pm.  This conference is not mandatory for all students.  If your child’s teacher requests a conference please make time to meet with them.  In addition, if you wish to request a conference please let the teacher know.

NO School:  In honor of President’s Day, H-BC does not have school on Friday, February 18 and Monday, February 21.  School is back in session on Tuesday, February 22.

FFA FARM SAFETY:   HBC Elementary will host the HBC Secondary FFA as they teach elementary students about Farm Safety.  This event will occur on March 22. --There will be live farm animals and other pets that may be present.  Please notify the office if your child is allergic to any animals.

3-5 Grade Girls On The Run:   Spots are limited for this wonderful program.   Registration is open at www.EmBe.org/gotr     Scholarships are available, if the fee is a concern.  The program will run Monday & Wednesday, 3:30-4:15pm starting Monday, March 7, and ending Monday, May 16.   Thank you Mrs. Tollefson for leading the program!

Penny War:   The competition is heartwarming!  Our Elementary students are excited to be sharing their piggy banks with Game Plan 4 Hope.   Each student in the winning class gets 25 pride points  and the winning class gets to silly string Mr. Holthaus!  The last day for the competition is TODAY Thursday, February 17th. The winning class has the opportunity to silly string Mr. Holthaus. 

Notes From The Nurse:  During hat and coat season, it’s a good idea to check your child for head lice weekly.

Black History Month The month of February we recognize all the contributions of black history leaders in our nation and in the world!

Friday, February 25- dress as favorite book character.

Pre-K - 2nd Grade Basketball Camp:  Thanks to Mr. VanWyhe for this offering.  The camp’s last day was on Saturday, February 12.

Early Childhood Family Education: ECFE classes will continue in February on Tuesday nights. ECFE is designed for families with children from birth to five. For more information contact Macy Ellingson at m.ellingson@isd671.net.

NUT AWARE SCHOOL: H-BC Elementary School is a peanut/tree nut allergy aware area.  There will be no classroom projects with peanut butter or peanut shells.  Please do not send any of these projects into the classroom with your child.  It is our hope that parents, who send a lunch from home for their child, CHOOSE NOT TO send foods containing peanut butter or nuts.
