H-BC Secondary Families:

We had a successful start to the school year and it is almost October!  Please make sure to look at the October Newsletter for district happenings when it is released.  Today, September 29th, is the midterm for Quarter 1.   We are already ⅛ finished with the 23-24 school year.  

Please make sure you and your student are keeping track of academics by checking JMC regularly.  You can find grades, missing assignments, attendance and even lunch balances.  If you need help getting the JMC app on your smartphone, please call the office or come on in.

Early Dismissal on Thursday, October 5th -   H-BC Secondary students are dismissed from school at 12:46 pm on Thursday, October 5.  

Also, please make sure to mark your calendars for Parent/Teacher/Student Secondary Conferences on Thursday, October 5th from 4 PM - 7:30 PM.  See more details below.

October 2nd is National Custodians Day - Thank you Deb Hartz & Dalton Bass for keeping our school and facilities clean and maintained!

October 5th, 2023 - Parent/Teacher Conferences Secondary - Please mark your calendars for Parent/Teacher Conferences on Thursday, October 5th from 4:00 - 7:30 PM.  Conferences will look similar to Open House where parents/caregivers can come and meet with their students’ respected teachers during the 3.5 hour time block.  Teachers will be available to discuss students’ progress during this time.  Please be considerate of other parents/caregivers who may be in the room by patiently waiting outside of classroom until classroom is open.  It is also recommended to check student(s)’ JMC account to look at academic progress.

  • Nursing and Occupational Therapist Assistant Camp at end of October at Worthington Sanford Clinic.   Students interested in the medical field - nursing and OT should sign-up for this FREE camp in the office.

  • 11th Graders to College Fair on Thursday, October 12th to meet with numerous college representatives from around the midwest.

FFA Corn Drive - Friday, October 13th

Mr. Opheim, FFA Advisor and Ag Teacher, has been busy planning the FFA Corn Drive which will be on Friday, October 13th during the school day.   FFA Members who have passing grades and no missing assignments will be invited to participate.   FFA members will be out in our school community collecting corn, monetary gifts and also providing our farmers with a FREE grilled lunch at New Vision.  If you would like to make a donation, please contact Mr. Opheim at p.opheim@isd671.net.

Hills-Beaver Creek School will be offering a flu vaccine clinic for students on Wednesday, October 11.  Please see your email for more information.

To receive the flu shot, the attached consent forms must be completed and returned to the  school by Friday, October 6th.    Student Consent Form

Updated Student Schedule - Schedule on JMC

Please make sure you are getting the most updated student schedule on the JMC app/website.  Students were able to change schedules this week.  

ACTION NEEDED:  It is important that families, if you haven’t done so already,  fill out the free and reduced lunch applications otherwise known as “Application for Educational Benefits”.  Registration link found here:  https://tinyurl.com/y5yz9soj

Back to school JMC Online Registration--Thanks to all the parents and families that completed their student online registration through JMC.  It is an easy way for the school to collect the necessary information for school enrollment.  If you have not yet completed registration for your student please do so as soon as possible.  Log into www.hbc.onlinejmc.com.  If you receive a message from the school stating all or a portion of your students registration is incomplete, please act promptly!  Call the office with questions 507-673-2541.

AM BUS CHANGES--For morning bus changes please call or text the bus line--make sure to identify your student and the bus number they are riding:  507-962-3240 Ext. 4.

SECOND ENTREE PURCHASE: Students in grades 6-12 may purchase a second entree with their meal.  The entree is $2.50.  If choosing a second entree, students may pay cash or the family lunch account will be charged. Students MUST sign up for 2nd entree on Kitchen Door each morning.  This will allow our cooks to make enough food.  Thank you.

The Trap Team selling Pheasants Forever Tickets

The tickets sell for $20.00 each and are on sale till October 4th. 

If any one wants to purchase some tickets they can contact any trap team member. 

This is an excellent opportunity to make some extra funds for next season.
