H-BC Families:

It’s been a great Homecoming week at H-BC Elementary.  We’re thinking positively about the weather.  See you at all the Homecoming festivities!

DISMISSAL FOLLOWING THE VOLLEYBALL GAME:  Following the volleyball match today, ALL K-5 STUDENTS WILL TRANSFER BACK TO THE ELEMENTARY to complete the rest of school day.  Dismissal will be as usual.  Parents wishing to pick up their child may do so, from the Elementary School.

HOMECOMING TODAY:  Our Homecoming parade  is at 11:00 am in Hills.  See the route below. Following the parade, elementary students have a picnic lunch at the Hugo Goehle Gym, followed by attendance at the varsity volleyball game at the H-BC Secondary School in Hills at 12:30.  

THANK YOU CUSTODIANS!  October 2nd is National Custodians Day.  We are thankful for Jason Rauk & Lisa Durst who make H-BC Elementary School shine!  

FLU SHOT CLINIC: H-BC is pleased to once again partner with Sanford Luverne Clinic and the Luverne Area Community Foundation to offer flu vaccines to all children enrolled in grades K-12. If you wish for your child/ren to receive the shot, your insurance will be billed for the flu vaccine if you have coverage. However, through collaboration with the Luverne Area Community Foundation, all out-of-pocket and non-insured costs will be covered for school-aged children.

The in-school flu shot clinic will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2022. To receive the flu shot, the attached consent forms must be completed and returned to the school by Monday, October 10, 2022.   For more information about this free flu shot clinic, contact Lois Leenderts, RN, school nurse, at l.leenderts@isd671.net.

PTO VIKING TICKET RAFFLE: The drawing is tonight at halftime of the homecoming football game on Friday. Sept. 23. Last minute tickets can be purchased at the volleyball game on Friday and first half of the football game that night.

PICTURE MAKEUP DAY:  Photography by Mark will be back Tuesday, September 27, for those who did not take their picture at our Open House.  MWF Little Patriot Academy makeup day will be November 2.

ACTION NEEDED:  If you haven’t done so already, please fill out the free and reduced lunch applications otherwise known as “Application for Educational Benefits”.  If you qualify this benefit will assist your family financially, this application is needed.   Registration link found here: https://tinyurl.com/y5yz9soj

REGISTRATION SIGNATURES:   If you have not yet completed the signature portion of registration for your student please do so as soon as possible.  Log into www.hbc.onlinejmc.com.  If you receive a message from the school stating all or a portion of your students registration is incomplete, please act promptly!  Call the office with questions 507-673-2541

AFTER SCHOOL CARE:  PEAC - Patriot Enrichment After School Care is available for “regulars” and “drop-ins”.   Call the office or email Mrs. Voss for more information: t.voss@isd671.net--IMPORTANT-If you are planning on having your child attend PEAC on the early Dismissal Day of 10/5, you must informs Mrs. Voss via email.  Thank you! This is a first come first serve basis.

AM BUS CHANGES--For morning bus changes please call the HBC  bus line--make sure to identify your student and the bus number they are riding:  507-962-3240

AM DROP OFF:  If it’s raining or you don't see our school staff on the playground in the morning, please drop your student off at Door #1 on the North Side of the School.  

LOOKING AHEAD:

  • October 5 - Early Dismissal for Staff Development - 12:45 at the Elementary 

  • October 12 - Flu Vaccine Clinic - permission forms were sent home.

  • October 21 - No School MEA break
