H-BC Elementary School Families:
Thank you all for your continued efforts! This is an exciting time of year for our students. Their anticipation for end of school year activities and summertime can be stressful. Let’s keep on encouraging our students to finish the year strong!
MASK in Schools UPDATE
The MN Department of Education is requiring mask wearing by everyone inside school buildings or on a school bus through the end of our school year.
BIKE RODEO--The Luverne Optimist Club will sponsor its annual Bike Rodeo tomorrow---Saturday, May 15 at 10:00am, in the Blue Mound Ice Skating parking lot in Luverne. In addition to receiving bike safety tips and having their bicycles checked out by Ken Petersen of Ken’s Bike Shop, participants will receive prizes from local merchants. The top two prizes will be a drawing for a free bike at Ace Hardware of Luverne. The Optimists are giving away 6 bikes that day and lots of other prizes.
PRIDE End of Year Event Students will enjoy a time of fun activities during school on Tuesday June 1. Staff has a number of events prepared for our students to enjoy themselves for a time the afternoon of the 1st. Here is a list of the activities: Fun in Sun (Rock Chalk, Bubbles, Playground, Beach Balls), Beaver Creek Splash Pad, Playground and Treats, Game time, BINGO.
PUPPY RELAYS (Elementary Track and Field Day) are Friday, May 21st 9 AM to 11 AM for Kindergarten through grade 2 1 PM to 3 PM for grades three through grade 5

One Book One School
H-BC Elementary is participating in One Book, One School. We are reading the book Wonder by R.J. Palacio. It’s a great way to celebrate the success of an individual that is “different”. Many life lessons are taught. Ask your child about Wonder. Each class and subject area will have many different activities surrounding this book for the entire month of May. Thank you to the H-BC Elementary PTO for their generous purchase of books for our grades 3-5 students and staff members!
Summer Basketball Camp Registration:
Current students in grades 3-8 are invited to attend this year’s camp led by Coach Kale Wiertzema and members of the High School Basketball teams. The camp is June 7-10. 3rd-5th grade-8-10am and 6th-8th grade-12:00pm at the jr/sr high school in Hills. Registration deadline is May 21.

Size 4-6 Elastic Waist Pants If you are doing some spring cleaning, H-BC Elementary could use small elastic waist pants or leggings sizes 4-6.
