HBC

April 30, 2021

It’s May!  Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week (May 3-7)!  Please join me in recognizing our AMAZING HBC teachers.  If you would like to thank your students’ teachers, this next week would be a great time.  Recently an HBC family sent our secondary teachers a candy boutique (see below) and it was a very kind gesture of gratitude to our teachers who have been committed to putting student-learning first.  HBC has kept our doors open for the entire school year and was one of a handful of secondary schools in the state who have managed to do this because of the commitment of our staff.  Thank you Teachers!   If you would like to show your appreciation, here are some of my favorite gestures when I was a teacher.

-Thank you note

-A friendly email thanking me for being a teacher

-A coffee or gift card for a coffee

-A fun, healthy snack

-A creative gift usually found on Pinterest

No Early Dismissals in May

HBC Elementary and Secondary will have NO early dismissals in the month of May.  The early dismissals were a great time for students to have extra 1:1 time with their teachers.  Students who were struggling, failing, missed multiple days because of quarantine, or needed more support would utilize this time to meet with their teachers.  As we transition to no Early Releases, please remind your students that our teachers are available from 7:30 - 8:05 AM and 3:05 - 3:30 PM.   Many teachers will even set up an appointment during the school day.

Summer Rec Calendars (Repeat)

The 10U, 12U & 14U Softball and Baseball schedules & information are posted to our hbc.patriots.com website.  They are located under: Menu, Parent Information, Summer Recreation.

Deficiency Lists for 4thQuarter- (Repeat)

As we emphasize the importance of academics and being well-rounded students, athletes and participants of co-curricular activities, please be reminded that we began our deficiency lists starting for Quarter 3 through Quarter 4. Note: There will be NO Early Releases in May, however students may come before school (7:30 - 8:05 AM) or after school (3:05 - 3:30).

The Deficiency List / Academic Eligibility is located in Section 9 of the Secondary Student Handbook (LINK).

This slide explains the different levels of deficiencies.  Parents and students will receive an emailed letter notifying them if their student is on the deficiency list.  Please continue to support your student who may be struggling with completing school work.
