Standard Response Protocol (SRP) - School Safety

The safety of our students and staff is our highest priority. Beginning with the 2026-2027 school year, Hills-Beaver Creek Schools will implement The "I Love U Guys" Foundation's Standard Response Protocol (SRP). This nationally recognized safety protocol uses simple, consistent language so students, staff, and first responders know exactly how to respond during an emergency. LINK to I Love You Guys website.
The Standard Response Protocol (SRP) consists of five standard actions:
Hold – In Your Classroom or Area
Secure – Get Inside. Lock Outside Doors
Lockdown – Locks, Lights, Out of Sight
Evacuate – To a Reunification Location (The Cidery Blackshire Farms - Beaver Creek & Hugo Gymnasium - Hills)
Shelter – State the Hazard and Safety Strategy
Throughout the school year, students and staff will participate in age-appropriate training and practice drills. These drills help build confidence and preparedness while ensuring everyone understands how to respond in a variety of situations.
This past week, administration reviewed the process with our students and staff and will continue to practice these drills throughout the school year. By state statute, all schools are required to complete 5 lockdown drills, 5 fire drills and 1 servere weather drill.
Thank you for your partnership as we continue working together to provide a safe, secure, and supportive learning environment for every HBC student. If you have any questions, please contact the school office.
