Patriots

Today (1/10/2020), the 8th grade Culture of Foods class invited guests to a brunch as the traditional end of the semester celebration of their new found cooking skills! We had a great turnout and the honored guests were treated to a tasty meal prepared by the 8th graders of egg bake, baked french toast, coffee cake, and either a "Mexican Coffee" recipe or punch.  They invited me to have a taste - Very Well Done!  Thank you to Mrs. Richards for organizing the event and to those special guests that joined us!

Boys' Basketball Game & a Burger Feed

The H-BC boys' basketball squads will play in the Ellsworth gym tonight against Adrian/Ellsworth.  There will also be a Burger Feed available in the commons at Ellsworth from 5:00 - 7:30.  This game will likely draw a large crowd so travel early to grab a good seat!

Busy Week

On January 6th, the junior high Knowledge Bowl teams traveled with Ms. Vanden Hoek to Marshall to compete.  The teams placed 28th, 40th, and 51st out of 53 teams.  They did not qualify for regionals, but had a good learning experience.

The high school Mock Trial students competed for the first time this season in Pipestone on Monday, January 6th.  They lost the round by 11 points, but according to first year coach, Mrs. Klumper, they received a lot of positive feedback and know what areas to improve upon for the next opportunity.

The junior and senior ag class went for a tour of Tru Shrimp on 1/9/2020.  They toured the facilities, and were even allowed to dissect and eat shrimp! 🍤 It sounded like a really interesting, and tasty, experience!

Next week is a packed week for the secondary students with semester exams and several night events both home and away.  There is a lot of sickness going around, encourage extra hand washing, rest and fluids!

Southwest Minnesota CEO

Applications for current sophomores and juniors due soon (February 7, 2020)!! Check out this website for more information on this entrepreneurial experience for your student!

"Entrepreneurship education seeks to prepare people, especially youth, to be responsible, enterprising individuals who become entrepreneurs or entrepreneurial thinkers and contribute to economic development and sustainable communities. The CEO program is much more than a textbook course. Rather, students are immersed in real life learning experiences with the opportunity to take risks, manage the results, and learn from the outcomes."
