HBC Secondary Bulletin 09/22/2023

H-BC Secondary Families:

It was a GREAT 3rd week at HBC Secondary! Many of our 10th/11th/12th graders were able to attend Rising Educators at SDSU on Monday. These students were able to hear more about the education career pathway as they start to think about colleges & careers.

Our student body was also able to support our HBC Patriots Volleyball team at Edgerton for the Queens of the Court game. Our girls played their hearts out, but unfortunately did not win! Great job Lady Patriots! This event was viewed by over 700 spectators from HBC & Edgerton.

Upcoming College and Career Opportunities for 10th/11th/12th Graders (New)

10th Graders to Career Expo (Worthington) on Tuesday, September 26th. All students will go to expo to learn about the numerous careers around the Tri-State Area.

Talent Draft Day - interested 11th & 12th graders to Southeast Technical College for Talent Draft Day on Tuesday, October 3rd. Students will explore a variety of career business pathways and around the Sioux Falls Area including technology demonstrations and talent talks. Students should sign-up at Mr. Ellingson’s office door.

Nursing and Occupational Therapist Assistant Camp on Wednesday, October 11th at Worthington Sanford Clinic. Students interested in the medical field - nursing and OT should sign-up for this FREE camp in the office.

11th Graders to College Fair on Thursday, October 12th to meet with numerous college representatives from around the midwest.

H-BC Secondary Picture Day!--Tuesday, September 26, 2023

School picture day is almost here. Please make sure your student is ready for this day. Pictures will be in the AM. Parents can preorder online or fill out the order packet. At midnight on pictured day, prepay ordering will no longer be available. Link is here.

Coronation - Monday, September 25 @ 7:00 PM at HBC Secondary New Gymnasium

Coronation will be followed by a Jr vs Sr. Powderpuff Football Game at Football Field.

HBC Homecoming Parade will be Friday, September 29th @ 2:45 PM in Hills. (see route below)

Updated Student Schedule - Schedule on JMC

Please make sure you are getting the most updated student schedule on the JMC app/website. Students were able to change schedules this week.

Back to school JMC Online Registration--Thanks to all the parents and families that completed their student online registration through JMC. It is an easy way for the school to collect the necessary information for school enrollment. If you have not yet completed registration for your student please do so as soon as possible. Log into www.hbc.onlinejmc.com. If you receive a message from the school stating all or a portion of your students registration is incomplete, please act promptly! Call the office with questions 507-673-2541.

AM BUS CHANGES--For morning bus changes please call or text the bus line--make sure to identify your student and the bus number they are riding: 507-962-3240 Ext. 4.

SECOND ENTREE PURCHASE: Students in grades 6-12 may purchase a second entree with their meal. The entree is $2.50. If choosing a second entree, students may pay cash or the family lunch account will be charged. Students MUST sign up for 2nd entree on Kitchen Door each morning. This will allow our cooks to make enough food. Thank you.
