H-BC Elementary Families:

It’s been a great week celebrating our Teachers and Nurses and Nurses at H-BC!  Students have been working hard on their benchmark testing for the end of the school year.  Please encourage your student to stay focused and learn as much as possible, even though the end of our school year is approaching rapidly!  It is definitely an exciting time of year!

End of the year celebration will happen on Friday, May 26th during the last school day for our students.  Students will be able to attend a number of seminars at school that day on a variety of topics:  Lisa Fick - Baking, Rebecca Spykerboer - Arts and Crafts -  bubble wand making, Jessica Boelman - Hair/Nails, Emily Givens- First Aid/CPR/Heimlich - Babysitting, Harnack Builders -  building, Erin Metzger - Volleyball Clinic, Mr. Metzger - Football Clinic, Wally’s Nursery - planting.  Thank you to all the volunteers that are assisting in making this success!

FREE MEALS:  Our fall registration will have details regarding free meals for all students for the 23-24 school year.  The Minnesota House passed a bill guaranteeing free lunch and breakfast to all Minnesota students, regardless of income requirements set by a federal program. 

COUNTY ROAD 6 DELAYS:   As you are likely aware, resurfacing of Co Rd #6 between Beaver Creek and Hills has begun.  At times the road will be down to one lane monitored by a flagperson. 

BIKE RODEO TOMORROW:  The Luverne Optimist are again sponsoring the Bike Rodeo on Saturday, May 13, at 10:00 am at the Blue Mound Ice Arena Parking Lot in Luverne.  Kids of all ages are invited to attend with their bikes.   There will be lots of prizes, including Two bikes to be given away.   Atlas volunteers will be doing minor bike repairs.

SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR:  The Elementary Book Fair will run May 15-19.  Students may shop during Library class time and the Fair will be open after school May 15,16 & 17.  Also open after the final 

5TH GRADE ENTREPRENEUR FAIR:  H-BC 5th grade students have been learning about developing a business model.  They have formed partnerships, created new products and learned about expenses and marketing. Students in grades K-4 will have the opportunity to see all the new products and hear the sales pitches at the Entrepreneur Fair held at the Elementary School on Thursday, May 18th during recess time.  K-4 students may bring $5-$10 to spend at the Entrepreneur Fair.    Please do not exceed $10.

PUPPY RELAYS:  H-BC Elementary Puppy Relays are 1 pm on Friday,  May 19th in the Beaver Creek softball field south of the elementary school.  Guests are welcome to come and cheer!

SUMMER SWIMMING LESSONS:  H-BC is pleased to again partner with Luverne Aquatics & Fitness for summer swimming lessons.   This year's lessons will be June 19-29 – 8:45-9:25.  Directions for swimming and transportation information were sent home.  Forms are due back before May 19.

4th GRADE TO LEMARS:  Mr. Metzger’s 4th grade class had a fun field trip to LeMars, Ia on Tuesday.  They visited Perry Creek Dairy Farm, Cleveland Park for lunch and the  Wells Blue Bunny Ice Cream Parlor.

 


 

2ND GRADE SCIENTISTS:  On Tuesday, May 9, Mrs. Edmundson’s second grade class attended the SMSU Science & Nature Conference in Marshall.   Thank you Mrs. Edmundson and the businesses that contributed to make it possible.
