The CEO program is an entrepreneurship educational programs which seeks to prepare students to be responsible, enterprising individuals who become entrepreneurs or entrepreneurial thinkers and contribute to economic development for their communities. Such talented 8th graders! 8th grade English students completed their book study on The Odyssey. Students chose one of these final projects: 1. create a board game of the challenges of Odysseus or 2. Create a mask of a character and an essay on the character or 3. Research three constellations and explain how they relate to Greek mythology or 4. Today is National Custodial Worker's Recognition Day and H-BC Elementary is lucky to have two of the BEST, LISA DURST AND JASONN RAUK!! Mrs. Wysong teamed up with Dr. Zonnefeld from Dordt University (sponsored by the Dordt Noyce grant) to teach 10th - 12th grade math students about algorithms and statistics looking at March Madness. Students were encouraged to look at patterns and work as teams to find successful algorithms. The students will have an opportunity to compete with their new math skills during March Madness for a chance at Dordt Swag and a traveling trophy.

On May 22, the HBC Boys and Girls Golf teams competed in the first day of the Section 3A Golf Meet in Worthington. Hannah Fick, Tess Van Maannen and Thomas Dysthe advance to the final Section Meet on May 29, with a chance to move on to the state golf tournament in June.

Brayden Metzger, HBC 8th grader, won the HBC School Geography Bee. Brayden won First Place in the Geo Bee by correctly answering questions about US and World Geography. In January, Brayden will take a State qualifying Geography Bee online test. Twenty-five 7th and 8th graders competed in the Annual Geo Bee. Elly Klosterbuer and Joshua Wiersma placed 2nd and 3rd respectively. 8th Grade Geography instructors are Mrs. Randi Oftedahl and Mr. Dan Ellingson.
