HBC Secondary Bulletin

December 4, 2020

H-BC Secondary Families:

It’s December!  I hope you enjoyed a safe and relaxing Thanksgiving Break.  We are thankful to still be in school and continuing to learn with each other.   Though 2020 has had its fair share of ‘downs’, we know there are plenty of ‘ups’ that have occurred in the 20-21 school year.   Thank you for entrusting us with your student(s) and thank you for being teammates as we work together to develop students who are ready for today and everything the future holds.  Please continue to reinforce those expectations of keeping masks above the nose and socially distancing when possible.  We are heading into the cold/flu season and we need to stay extra vigilant to continue to keep us in school.

Finally, please remember our amazing staff during this holiday season.   Our staff have been asked to do a lot to keep our students in school and they deserve to be appreciated.  Please remember to thank them.  Some of my most treasured artifacts from my teaching career were thank you cards or emails from my students (current and past) and parents of my students.   This small gesture of thanks goes a long way.  You can find our staff emails on our school website directory or you can send a card to the school and we will find the recipient.

Here are some fun pics for the season.  Our students are ready for the Holidays!

DO NOT FORGET TO SCREEN YOUR STUDENT REMINDER: (Repeat)  Make sure to screen your child everyday, prior to coming to school!  Here is the link for Screener.  Your assistance is greatly appreciated!

MASKS (New)

Please make sure to send your student with a clean or new mask each day.   The state and MDE has provided us with hundreds of masks at the beginning of the school year, but our supply is almost out.   Please remind your student to show G.R.A.D. by being accountable for bringing and wearing a clean or new mask daily.

Our 6th - 8th grade students will be assessing their reading and math growth on the week of December 14th - 18th.  The NWEA MAP Assessment is an assessment which measures the students growth in math and reading compared to their assessment in September and also allows teachers to see if learning is occurring and will also be used to help provide instruction at the student’s specific instructional level.   Students will be assessed by their reading or math teacher in their classroom.   Good luck students!

FFA Food Drive to Project Love (New)

Thank you students and families for your donations to Project Love and the Rock County Food Shelf during the holiday season.   There were hundreds of items donated for those less fortunate.  Our 6th grade class won the competition for donating the most and will be awarded with a PIZZA PARTY!  Well done students!
