Help our school earn Technology
Products!
School districts across the country have been dealing with huge
budget cuts, but we've found a way to supplement our finances to get the
products we need. H-BC is participating in the Funding Factory Recycling
Program. This fundraiser is FREE and simple because there's nothing to
sell, no paperwork to fill out and no deadline. The program runs
year-round, accumulating constant income for our efforts. But we won't
get very far without your support. Please donate your empty printer
cartridges and used cell phones to H-BC School and we'll take it from
there! We will recycle the cartridges and cell phones through Funding
Factory to earn new technology equipment. Last year alone, more than 300
million cartridges were thrown away, while 30,000,000 cell phone were
tossed or replaced. We're alleviating the volume of waste that goes into
landfills while collecting products we need to keep H-BC running
smoothly. Your help is vital to our fundraising success. Cell phones and
cartridges can be dropped off at the following locations: H-BC High
School (in Hills) or at the Elementary School (in Beaver Creek). If you
are unable to bring in your used equipment, please email Marie Brown at
mbrown@hbcpatriots.com and
she will pick it up.

Technology at
Hills-Beaver Creek
District 671

Mission Statement
The technology curriculum in Hills-Beaver Creek
District #671 has a threefold mission.
- To provide an opportunity for ALL school
personnel, and students to be exposed to, learn about,
and apply available forms of technology to a level
where they are comfortable and confident in its use.
- To establish an integrated districtwide
K-12 technology program to offer an opportunity for
all students to succeed in a world of expanding
technology.
- And to have the district establish a
priority commitment to technology by,
a. providing the necessary funding to fully
implement the program including personnel with the
time to help,
b. establish an in-service program (assigned to the
Staff Development Committee) so that staff can learn
to use available forms of technology throughout the
K-12 curriculum.
Vision Statement
We believe that technology plays a major role in efforts
made in education now and will continue to affect
education in the future. This allows us to establish
creative methods of integrating technology into all
existing curriculums. We agree that educational
technologies need to be considered as one of several
instructional tools and delivery systems available for
learning and teaching--superior in some situations and
inferior in others. This means then that the criteria
for evaluating these tools should consider, primarily,
how appropriately they prepare students for functioning
in tomorrow’s society. Technology should be a tool or
means to educate--not the end product. The need to
update existing goals and outcomes is essential as
technologies improve. We believe that technology offers
educators a means to address the increasing demands in
education of processing vast amounts of knowledge and
making quality decisions based on the knowledge.
Upon graduation all learners will be able to:
- type at a level that meets the age
appropriate level
- use word processing to facilitate
writing (drafting, editing, formatting, saving,
printing, and sharing)
- present an informative presentation
- use problem-solving and creative
thinking software
- use a database and a spreadsheet to
collect and organize information
- use software to access information for
research activities
- use a web browser software to access
information on the internet
- generate reports on computers for all
classes
- demonstrate desktop publishing skill
using current technology (word processing, graphics,
database, spreadsheet, graphing, power point,
internet, digital camera, video camera, etc.)
- use current technology to access
information for research activities (CD-ROM, Internet,
etc.)
- all learners will have equitable
access to current technology at school
