Seventh Grade Social Studies
Objectives of this class: To
understand the key concepts in the development
of the United States.
To understand regional U.S. geography, map
applications and landforms.
Materials: The text used
for the U.S. history portion of this class
is America’s Story.
The text used for the geography portion
of this class is World Geography Today.
These textbooks will need to be covered
with an appropriate book cover at all times.
The course will also be supplemented with
other materials to be determined by the
instructor.
Each student will need to bring a 3-ring
binder, a folder, paper and a pencil to
class each day.
Classwork:Each student
will demonstrate his/her understanding of
the coursework through assignments in and
outside of class, individual, pair and group
work, projects, presentations, quizzes and
tests.
Grading Scale
100%-96% = A 95%-92% = A-
91%-89% = B+ 88%-86% = B 85%-83% = B-
82%-80% = C+ 79%-77% = C 76%-74% = C-
73%-71% = D+ 70%-68% = D 67%-65% = D-
64% and below = Failing
Make-up policy:Each student
will be given one day to make up missed
work for each day of class missed. Make
up for missed quizzes and tests will be
arranged with Mrs. Richards.
Unexcused
late work is not accepted-no exceptions!
Understanding the events and forces which
shaped the United States as well as exploring
the physical geography of this country will
enable you to better understand the United
States of today.
In order to be successful, you will need
to spend time both in class and out of class
completing the assigned work.
You
will get out of this class what you put
into it!
