
Eighth Grade Home Economics
Course Objective:
To understand and practice skills necessary
to become self-sufficient, consumer-wise
members of society.
Course Outline: This course
is a one semester course. Coursework will
include the following topics:
- Nutrition
- Food preparation and safe handling
- Consumer awareness
- Etiquette
- Child Development
Grading Requirements:
Each student's grade will be determined
by his or her proficiency in the class work.
Class work will include:
individual, pair and group activities,projects
and presentations
cooking labs
quizzes and tests
Each student's grade
will be based upon total points.
The grading scale is as follows:
96% -100% = A
92%- 95% = A-
89%-91% = B +
89%-91% = B +
86%-88% = B
83%-85% = B-
80%-82% = C+
77%-79% = C
74%-76% = C-
71%-73% = D+
68%-70% = D
65%-67% = D-
below 65% = Failing
Cooperation with the
teacher and fellow students is a necessity
in this hands-on type of class. Failure
to cooperate will result in a loss of points
for the assigned work.
