For the week of Dec. 12-16
- our theme was gingerbread man
- read several different variations of the gingerbread man books. We read: Gingerbread Man, Gingerbread Fred, Gingerbread Cowboy, Gingerbread Girl and Gingerbread baby.
- charted the similarities and differences between all the gingerbread stories.
- in phonics we learned about “bossy r” in words (ur, ir, and er words).
- talked about the vowels and learned that they are needed in words to “glue” our words together.
- in centers we had report card testing for 2nd quarter, made gingerbread man button books, had a Christmas listening center, and used stamps to fill in beginning, middle, and end sounds in words.
- learned a new word wall word for “Wonderful Word Wednesday”. We learned the word he. Ask me how to spell this word and the chant to go with it!
- continue to practice writing letters in our Handwriting Without Tears workbooks.
- conference with our teachers about our journal writing. Ask me what my teacher wants me to improve on!
- learned about the color white and the song to go along with it.
- completed our 2nd quarter writing assessment. We have all made BIG improvements from the first quarter. Look at all the words I know how to write now J
- made gingerbread man glyphs*filled out a gingerbread man order form and decorated gingerbread men according to the number of M&M’s, red hots, and raisins that we “ordered”.
