Excellence is an Attitude

Mrs. Blosmo's Third Grade Newsletter - September

Math: We have plugged away at our Geometry units.  We will continue on this month with perimeter and area.  We continue to do a Mad Minute Daily – I can’t stress enough to practice each night at home!

Reading: We started our Laura Ingalls Wilder unit.  For the next month we will be reading from On the Banks of Plum Creek and doing comprehension, vocabulary, and Language Arts skills through out the unit.

Writing: We will be journaling each day from Laura’s perspective and how she feels during the unit on Laura Ingalls Wilder.

English:  We have finished our English portion of the textbook.  We are doing review packets each week to keep familiar with the parts of speech and skills for the upcoming testing.

Spelling:  We are introducing a new concept weekly in Spelling.  Look for the word list that should come home each week.  A good site to check out is aaaspell.com.

Science: We are learning about sound in our current chapter.  We will be doing an assembly in February on the 3 R’s – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

Social Studies:  Plunging into learning about our government.

*REMINDER – If your child would like snack you will need to supply it on a daily basis.

*Feb 16 – Early Out
*Feb 20 – NO SCHOOL
*Feb 22 – 3 R’s assembly.
*February 27 – Symphony field trip – Mrs. Ackerman will be sending more information.

Hello Parents!  We are settling back into our routine after our break.  We certainly have been spoiled as far as the winter weather this year!  Please do however, remember to send all the needed cold wear gear for recess even though there is not a lot of snow.  Also, make sure your child’s items are labeled.

Remember to watch the parent connection and district newsletter for any up-coming important dates and information.

Have a great month!
Mrs. Blosmo
