Proposed high school building project

Recently an election timeline was developed and approved by the school board. A vote will be held on Tuesday, March 9, 2010, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. regarding the construction of a new high school facility. A resolution calling for issuance of school building bonds not to exceed $9,900,000 was also approved.

 

POLLING INFORMATION

  • All residents of Springwater Township and the City of Beaver Creek will vote at the Beaver Creek City Hall;
  • All residents of Beaver Creek Township will vote at the Beaver Creek Township Hall;
  • All residents of the City of Steen will vote at the Steen City Hall (the former bank).
  • All residents of Clinton Township will vote at the Clinton Township Hall; and
  • All residents of Martin Township and the City of Hills will vote at the Hills Legion Hall.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a special election has been called and will be
held in and for Independent School District No. 671 (Hills-Beaver Creek), State of
Minnesota, on Tuesday, March 9, 2010, for the purpose of voting on the following question: SCHOOL DISTRICT BALLOT QUESTION 1 APPROVAL OF SCHOOL DISTRICT BOND ISSUE

Shall the school board of Independent School District No. 671 (Hills- Beaver Creek) be authorized to issue its general obligation school building bonds in an amount not to exceed $9,900,000 to provide funds for the acquisition and betterment of school sites and facilities, including construction and equipping of a high school facility?
BY VOTING "YES" ON THIS BALLOT QUESTION, YOU ARE VOTING FOR A PROPERTY TAX INCREASE.

HOW WILL A NEW HIGH SCHOOL IMPACT MY TAXES?

The proposed bond issue will be repaid over 25 years, and it would affect property taxes beginning with taxes payable in 2011. To determine the estimate impact of the proposed bond issue on your 2011 taxes, you need the following information:

1. Your 2010 proposed property tax statement which was mailed to you by Rock County in November of 2009; or
2. Your notice of valuation and classification which was mailed to you by Rock County in the spring of 2009.
3. The Property I.D. number(s) for all parcels that you own could also be very helpful.
IF YOU CANNOT FIND THIS INFORMATION CALL THE ROCK COUNTY AUDITOR’S OFFICE AT 283-5060 AND ASK FOR 2009 TAXABLE MARKET VALUE OF YOUR PROPERTY FOR PURPOSES OF TAXES PAYABLE IN 2010. After you have this information, you have the following options:

  • You will be able to call toll free at 1-800-552-1171 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. and ask to speak to any member of the Education Team. Tell Ehlers & Associates that you are calling about the tax impact of the Hills- Beaver Creek Schools referendum. They will assist you from there.

    Include your full name, a daytime phone number and the property I.D. number(s) for all parcels of property you own within the school district.
